Your home is your castle, your own little piece of the American dream. But lately, your little corner of the world has been feeling cramped and you find yourself eyeing those larger homes. Is it
BUYERS OR SELLERS?
Dated: November 23 2020
When people first meet me and find out I’m in Real Estate they often ask if I prefer to work with buyers or sellers. It’s a good question, but my answer is always the same “I enjoy working with both!” Some may consider it a stock answer or that I’m playing it safe with the response. The truth is I enjoy working with both buyers and sellers for a variety of reasons.
My business is comprised of a ton of first-time buyers. People who have been accustomed to renting in the city of Chicago for many years. They understand what it’s like living next to a noisy train, dealing with finicky radiators, rude neighbors, street parking, and all of the not so great things brought on by apartment living. When they come to me about buying their first home or condo you can typically hear the excitement in their voice, but recognize a sense of nervousness in their eyes. It’s a big deal buying your first home, and it’s my job to set them at ease and guide them through the process. Once the concerns are worked through. and desires are discussed it’s time for me to go to work and find them a home they will love.
Working with sellers I’m given the opportunity to utilize the marketing skills I gained at DePaul and throughout my sales career. The behind the scenes stuff is what really excites me. Using market data and leveraging statistics to the sellers advantage, while finding creative ways to gain buyer exposure. Developing a marketing campaign that is tailored to an individual property, writing a listing copy, holding an open house and meeting new people, I love it all. Emotion is not taken out of the process. Many of the sellers I work with have been in their home for many years; they hosted holidays, they raised their kids, they simply have cherished memories that are attached to the home. My job is help them work through those feelings, while delivering them a great buyer who will hopefully carry on the legacy and create new memories in the home.
It’s very common for me to work with a client who is both a buyer and seller. It’s an opportunity to get to experience both sides of the transaction and for me the best of both worlds. If you or someone you know is looking to buy or sell OR buy and sell, have them contact me. I’m always happy to help.
